2022 TRINITY COUNTY REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION PLAN (RTP)

Regional Transportation Planning Agencies play a critical role in shaping our communities. They guide our transportation investments for many modes of travel, including public transit, automobiles, trucks, trains, bicycles, pedestrians and to some extent airplanes. The Regional Transportation Plan provides the framework for prioritizing projects and developing a planning level schedule for implementation. This document has become increasingly important as funding resources constrict, planning efforts coordinate, and new programs expand.

The purpose of the Trinity County 2022 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) is to provide the vision for the region, supported by transportation goals, for ten year (2022-2032) and twenty year (2033-2042) planning horizons. The RTP will assess the current modes of transportation in Trinity County and the potential of new travel options within the region; identify projected growth corridors and predict the future improvements and needs for travel and goods movement; identify and document specific actions necessary to address the region’s mobility and accessibility needs; and determine prioritized regional transportation projects and funding strategies for Trinity County over the next twenty years.

The RTP will cover all transportation modes including local roadway improvements and maintenance, State highways, bridges, transit, bicycle, pedestrian, rail, and aviation. The RTP development process will be a collaborative effort between Trinity County, Caltrans, environmental and resource management agencies, and the public.

The last RTP for the region was developed in 2016.

The Trinity County Transportation Commission and regional partners will be developing the 2022 Trinity County Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) update throughout 2022 with an eventual adoption target date of December 2022. Any outreach materials for the update including notices, meetings, minutes and agendas will be posted on this website.
